Saltburn

Saltburn

Saltburn is situated between Teesside and North Yorkshire on the North East coast. This beautiful stretch of coastline has an impressive cliffside, pleasure pier, cliff tramway and many independent shops and places to eat.
We parked at the top, but there is also a number of car parks if you take the winding cliffside road down to the sea.  Unfortunately at the time of our visit, due to a fire, the tramway was closed but repair work is due to start soon. We walked along the pier and beach taking in the views of the bright multi-coloured huts and iconic tramway. There are opportunities for fish and chips and ice creams but we were saving ourselves for lunch elsewhere. There is also a miniature railway nearby.  Tickets can be purchased from Cat Nab station which is located next to the seafront car park.
As we visited on a Monday some of the independent shops and cafes were closed but thankfully The Sitting Room was open and had gluten free options available.  The Sitting Room serve homemade food until 4pm and cocktails throughout the day.  Although small there is plenty of outdoor seating. We definitely need to head back to try their hot chocolates and sweet treats.
